Born in Scotland UK and having lived many places around the US and world, Ravi has been in New Orleans for the last 4 years. He completed undergraduate at the University of Michigan in history, medical school at Michigan State University, and Family Medicine Residency at the University of Wisconsin. After completing residency he came to New Orleans to be with Holly Murphy (his life partner). She is an Infectious Disease fellow at Tulane and is very active in HIV/AIDS work and international health specifically in Haiti. He then completed an MPH in Tropical Medicine and continued moonlighting in an ER in rural Louisiana. He finally started with the Department of Family and Community Medicine in April of 2002.
He lives with Holly and Anjali (their daughter) on Esplanade in the Treme. He enjoys biking and continues to live without a car and commute by bicycle to the Uptown Square campus where he enjoys full spectrum family medicine including: adults, kids and obstetrics. He continues to be politically active in various leftist and progressive social causes.
